Friday, October 31

Well it's finally a finished product! Hope you enjoy the sound in the videos below!

(Had to upload to youtube instead since the size exceeded the allowed file limit!)

Final Production and Testing

Thursday, October 30th

So today I made sure that the speakers are sturdy.  Duct tape now hold it all together. (I went a little overboard as picture one shows, covered up the hole for my phone, but fixed it quickly.)  The duct tape also seems to keep the sound within the cups better, allowing for sound projection at maximum amounts, it is a vast improvement.  Testing begins and tomorrow will be the display of my fully functioning speakers!

Next Stage!

Wednesday, October 29th

Now the mission is to get the speakers to hold together, and increase the sound quality.  I started by adding in small pieces of aluminium to fix any major holes that might be around.  Once testing and finding a better sound quality, I decided to put aluminium foil into the back of both cups, and discovered that it aided in sound quality as well.  I plan to keep it there as long as it can stay in place easily.

Production Stage One

Wednesday, October 29th

Progressing decently, have cut the necessary holes into the cups and have minimal unwanted damage to them so far.  Paper towel roll fits nicely and the sound is decent when playing with no current adjustments.

Problem solving!

Tuesday, October 28

Have decided to use plastic cups instead of soup cans, I believe that this may cause some problems with bigger holes than I want, but I will have to cross that bridge when I get to it. Tomorrow, production begins for real!

Next Problem.....

Monday, October 27

Hit another small snag..... Much like the idea of using a metal pipe centre, I also found I can not cut through the soup can as I wanted to. Believe me, I tried (see picture)  Even a hatchet couldnt make the hole I needed.  So I take now to the internet to find something that can cut metal which I can access, or to find another means to make these speakers work.

First Problem

Monday, October 27

First problem has been encountered, I forgot to find a way to cut the metal I was planning on using, and since I do not have quick access to any means of doing so, I'm going to have to change my strategy a little.  Also, I have decided to do two tests, using different sized soup cans, to determine what gives optimal sound projection and quality!

Beginning

Since beginning the project, I have been keeping a journal of events since I was having problems with my blogspot account.  Having finally worked out my issues, I present my speakers! Having been revised several times for optimal projection and sound quality.  Journal entries with pictures to follow!

Idea found, useful for myself and hopefully effective

Monday, October 27th

I have decided to construct home made speakers, since I have nothing to play music through at my house, but am also on a budget when it comes to spending!  I plan to use a metal pipe which I will cut a hole into, and two soup cans to project the sound.  This will be reinforced with duct tape, to ensure sound quality and the structure of the speakers
